PH Consulate General in Sydney Commemorates Jose Rizal’s 157th Birth Anniversary

SYDNEY 26 June 2018 — Consul Melanie Rita B. Diano, together with Campbelltown City Councillor Rey Manoto, led the commemoration of the 157th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at a solemn wreath laying ceremony held at the Rizal Park in Campbelltown City, New South Wales, Australia on 19 June 2018.
During the ceremony, the life and works of Rizal were remembered and honored. Consul Diano and Councillor Rey Manoto, who is also President of the Rizal Park Movement of Campbelltown, led representatives of the Order of the Knights of Rizal-Sydney Chapter and other Filipino community organizations in the wreath-laying ceremony.
In her speech, Consul Diano honored Rizal and encouraged the members of the Filipino community to continue to educate the Filipino-Australian youth of the importance of Rizal’s life, work and teachings, and to be proud of their Filipino roots.
The Order of the Knights of Rizal, led by Mr. Cesar Bartolome, Regional Commander of Australia, New Zealand & Oceania Region (ANZO) and Mr. Danny Peralta, Commander of Sydney Chapter, also organized a wreath-laying ceremony at Rizal Ashfield Park, Ashfield, New South Wales, which attended by the Philippine Consulate and members of the Philippine Community Council of New South Wales.
