Kublai Millan Painting Finds New Home at PH Embassy in Canberra

CANBERRA 27 June 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra, Australia, in partnership with the House of Hope Foundation and Special Envoy to Australia Miguel Ayala, held the painting exhibit by Davao-based artist Kublai Millan entitled “Down South Down Under in Canberra” on 11 to 14 June 2018.

“Down South Down Under,” launched for the benefit of the House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer, features pastoral scenes and people from Mindanao and were exhibited.

Millan is a prolific artist from Davao, and is known for the monuments that have become important cultural landmarks in Mindanao. Millan has played a significant role in creating expressions to bring unity to the diverse spiritual cultures of Mindanao. 

On 14 June 2018, Kublai donated his painting from the exhibit called Kalagan Ensemble to the Philippine Embassy in Australia, and will be permanently displayed at the Embassy premises.

Ambassador to Australia Minda Calaguian-Cruz said the painting will share the beauty of the Mindanaoan art and culture, which can be shared with future generations. END
