PH Consulate General in Chicago Hosts First Graduation of Fil-Am Students

CHICAGO 28 June 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago hosted the opening ceremony of the first Philippine Graduation (P-Grad) in Chicago at the Kalayaan Hall of the Consulate General on 19 June 2018.
In partnership with the Pilipino American Unity for Progress (UniPro), the event aims to honor the achievements made by all graduating students of Filipino descent, who have successfully completed coursework in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral field this year.
The recipient of PGRAD Class of 2018 comprised ten degree holders in various disciplines such as Arts and Sciences, Biology, Education, Finance, Industrial Design, and Medicine, among others.
Consul General in Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin, in her welcome remarks, thanked everyone for their presence and underscored the importance of this day observing the birth anniversary of Dr. Jose. P. Rizal.
Consul General Jamoralin emphasized the Consulate’s vision and hope of engaging the second generation of Filipino-Americans to be guided by the life and teachings of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
UNIPRO Chicago President Justin Winfield thanked the Consul General for an opportunity in holding the first PGRAD at the Consulate General, and hopes to continue the collaboration of PGRAD every year.
A musical rendition sang by Nadine Isobal and a cultural performance “Maglalatik” by Kulturo gave delight to the audience.
A fellowship and reception capped the fruitful and productive evening. END
