Fêtes Consulaires in Lyon, France Showcases Best of PH Culture
PARIS 28 June 2018 – The Fêtes Consulaires, an annual three-day activity in the French city of Lyon that showcases the culture of all countries with consular representations in Lyon, witnessed the best of Filipino food, music, and textile, plus the signature Filipino warmth and hospitality from 22 to 24 June 2018.
Mayor Georges Képénékian of Lyon officially opened the Festival. Philippine Honorary Consul Hervé de Malliard in Lyon also graced the occasion, while Consul General Aileen Mendiola-Rau represented the Philippine Embassy in Paris to show support for the event.
The Philippine booth was full of cheer as leaders and members of the Filipino Community donning colorful Philippine textiles and elegant Filipiniana dresses manned the booth, welcomed the visitors coming from different countries with a smile, and provided information about the Philippines. Guests also had the chance to taste Filipino dishes such pancit.
An accomplished young Filipino violinist Joseph Felix serenaded the guests with the Filipino classic “Tanging Yaman” and other lovely melodies.
Coinciding with the Fêtes Consulaires in Lyon is the Fête des Bannières du Monde 2018, which was held in Lyon on 23 June 2018. The Philippines likewise participated in this event. END
