Lone Filipino Casualty in London’s Grenfell Fire Receives Cash Donation
LONDON 29 June 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in London, represented by First Secretary and Consul Voltaire Onesimo C. Mauricio and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Stacy Danika S. Alcantara-Garcia, received a £ 1,000.00 donation from ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel on behalf of the lone Filipino fatality in the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire at the Embassy chancery on 27 June 2018.
The donation was later turned over to a relative of the Filipino beneficiary.
ABS-CBN is represented by Assistant Vice President and Country Manager for the European Union Luis Bariuan, and senior news correspondent Rose Eclarinal.
A massive fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower public housing flats in West London on 14 June 2017, killing 72 people. The housing tower was on fire for about 60 hours, before local authorities extinguished the fire. END
