“Si Pagong at Si Matsing” by Jose Rizal Donated to Dutch Book Museum

THE HAGUE 02 July 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands participated in this year’s Kinderboekenparade (Children’s Parade) organized by Kinderboekenmuseum (Children’s Book Museum), held on 10 June 2018. 

Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda donated to the museum’s “Children’s Books Embassy” a copy of Jose Rizal’s children’s book “Si Pagong at si Matsing” in its English and Tagalog versions, written by National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario with illustrations by Hubert B. Fucio.

The choice of Rizal’s children’s book was also recommended by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, June being the birth month of the country’s national hero.

The museum’s Children’s Books Embassy aims to give children the opportunity to discover and experience the joys of reading and learning stories from other countries other participating embassies included El Salvador, Israel and Ukraine. END
