VIENNA 03 July 2018 - The Philippine Association of Service Exporters Inc. called on Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Sulpicio M. Confiado while on a Central and Western European marketing tour.
Deputy Chief of Mission Confiado, together with the Philippine Nurses’ Association in Austria President Enrico Rojas, Philippine Association of Medical Technologists President Nelly Etz, and Fonds Soziales Wien’s Monika Badilla, apprised PASEI members of the requirements Filipino skilled workers needed to comply with in order to seek employment in Austria. These requirements range from visa documentation, to educational background, years of experience, and language proficieny in English and/or Deutsch.
PASEI is the largest land-based association in the overseas employment sector. It has only very recently entered the EU scene, choosing previously to focus instead on acquiring employment for Filipinos in the Middle East. Despite the political and economic landscape, the proficiencies of the Filipinos in the field of natural and mechanical sciences make the EU a viable market for Filipino skilled workers.
The roundtable discussion proved informative to the members of PASEI as their concerns on the current labor market trends in Austria were answered, and the challenges that skilled Filipino workers might face were clarified. END
