PH Embassy in Brunei Takes Part in Eid’l Fitr Open House

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 04 July 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin, participated in the Hari Raya Open House hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MoFAT), held at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan on 26 June 2018 in celebration of the Hari Raya Eid’l Fitr.
The event was graced by MoFAT’s Ambassador-at-Large Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, accompanied by her husband and the Principal of Royal Customs and Protocol Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz.
Also in attendance were Foreign Affairs and Trade Second Minister Dato Seri Paduka Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, former Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Foreign Affairs and Trade Second Minister Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, and representatives from the Diplomatic Missions in Brunei Darussalam.
All personnel of the Philippine Embassy were in attendance, and wore Filipiniana attire to highlight Philippine culture and identity during the occasion.
The Philippine Embassy and other Diplomatic Missions were given stalls to showcase their national cuisines. Filipino food served by the Embassy included lumpia (spring roll stuffed with chicken meat), maja blanca, puto, sapin-sapin, polvoron, fried chicken, and ice cream (avocado, quezo, chocolate, and durian flavors), among others.
The Embassy’s stall, adorned with indigenous fabrics t’nalak and sinamay, was among the most popular and visited by numerous attendees and guests to have a taste of Filipino dishes.
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and other members of the Diplomatic Corps admired the unique design of the Philippine Embassy’s stall, and savored the distinct flavors of Filipino food, particularly the Philippine ice cream.
The MoFAT Open House celebration provided an excellent opportunity for Embassy personnel to get acquainted with MoFAT’s senior officials and other members of the Diplomatic Corps.
The occasion also served as an avenue to promote Philippine brands which have a presence in the Brunei market such as Fruits in Ice Cream, Goldilocks, Magnolia, and Jollibee, in support of the Embassy’s economic diplomacy initiatives. END
