PH Embassy Conducts 2nd Quarter Consular Outreach to Filipinos in Oman’s Second Largest City

MUSCAT 05 July 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Muscat conducted a consular outreach to the Filipino Community in Salalah, Oman’s second largest city.
Held at the InterCity Hotel, the Consular Outreach team processed 87 passport renewal applications and around 25 other consular services such as authentication, notarization and certification of documents, registration of birth, and NBI Clearance applications.
There were also 70 overseas Filipino workers who applied for, certified, reactivated or transferred their Overseas Voter’s registration on 29 June 2018.
The participation of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and the Social Security System (SSS) Representative in the Consular Outreach also enabled 27 OFWs to renew their membership in the Overseas Filipino Welfare Administrative (OWWA), while 67 OFWs were issued new SSS IDs. Around 20 OFWs also availed of services such as Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) application, employment contract verification, and welfare assistance or consultation.
POLO Muscat also conducted a Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) to 28 OFWs.
Salalah is the second largest city in Oman, with an estimated population of 375,000. The Philippine Embassy, located 1,000 kilometers away in Muscat, endeavors to organize a consular outreach every quarter to service the needs of the estimated 10,000 Filipinos residing in Salalah. END
