PH Consulate General in Chicago Serves Filipinos in Michigan During Outreach

CHICAGO 09 July 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago successfully conducted its fourth consular outreach service for the year at the Philippine American Community Center (PACCM) in Southfield, Michigan on 30 June 2018.

The Consulate General was able to serve 163 applicants for e-Passport, 39 applicants for re-acquisition/retention of Philippine citizenship, 41 applicants for notarial and other services, and 85 applicants for Overseas Voting registration.

During the outreach, the team also managed to conduct a forum that featured presentations from the Consulate General’s partners in the United States federal government.

NLRB Attorney Joseph P. Canfield, OSHA Compliance Officer Robert S. Mravec, and EEOC Outreach and Training Coordinator Lolita Davis, spoke on their respective agencies’ mandates and mechanisms for workers’ rights protection. They provided informational materials and offered to be of assistance to members of the Filipino Community who are still in the active workforce.

Newly appointed Honorary Consul to Michigan Marcus Evangelista was sworn in by Consul General in Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin. Honorary Consul Evangelista will be assisting Honorary Consul General Jose Evangelista.

In the spirit of bayanihan, PACCM Board Members voluntarily gave their support to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the one-day service. They echoed the appreciation of applicants for the consular team’s effort to bring the consulate’s various services to Southfield, Michigan, which is nearly 300 miles away from Chicago. END
