PH Basketball Team Participates in 2018 Jersey City Basketball League

NEW YORK 09 July 2018 – Building on its initial success with its sports diplomacy program, the Philippine Consulate General’s Philippine Basketball Team participated in the Jersey City Athletic Association (JCAA) 2018 Spring Basketball League in Jersey City, New Jersey from 22 April 2018 to 01 July 2018.

The Philippine Basketball Team, composed of personnel from the Consulate General in New York and the Philippine Mission to the United Nations, and their family members and friends, fought bravely in the tournament’s Amateur Division, and was able to reach the semi-finals stage but was unfortunately eliminated before the championship game.

Participants to the said tournament came from New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. There were several tournament divisions namely: Amateur, Open, Senior/35, 17U and 14U.

League organizers lined up various other fitness activities for the public like badminton, volleyball, table tennis, and Zumba every weekend during the two-month run of the event.

Participation in the tournament enabled the Consulate General to strengthen connections and rapport with Filipino Community teams and families who joined the games. END
