PH Embassy Discusses Halal Export Development, Promotion with Brunei Officials

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 10 July 2018 – Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin of the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam called on Haji Sabri bin Haji Mohd Taha, Head of the Halal Industry Development Division of the Ministry of Energy and Industry (MEI), on 05 July 2018.

The meeting discussed the participation of the Philippines in the Brunei Halal Showcase (BruHAS) 2018, and in the first Joint Committee Meeting for the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Trade and Industry and Brunei Prime Minister Office’s Energy and Industry Department on Halal Industry and Halal Export Development and Promotion.

Chargé d’Affaires Delfin was joined in the meeting by visiting Foreign Service Officer cadets Paolo Marco R. Mapula and Ralph Jacob Viloria, who are currently taking their apprenticeship with the Embassy. 

BruHAS 2018 will be held from 08 to 12 August 2018, while the first Joint Committee Meeting for the MOU on Halal Industry and Halal Export Development and Promotion will be held on 09 August 2018. Both events will be held at the International Convention Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan.  

The participation of the Philippines in BruHAS 2018 will serve as an avenue to create strong awareness for Philippine brands, as well as Philippine culture, arts and crafts in Brunei Darussalam.

In the same vein, the first Joint Committee Meeting for the MOU on Halal Industry and Halal Export Development and Promotion will facilitate the implementation of said agreement between the Philippines and Brunei on Halal cooperation. END
