LISBON 10 JULY 2018 – In commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence, the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal hosted a cocktail reception at Altis Avenida Hotel on 26 June 2018.

The cocktail reception was one of the high profile events held during the month-long “Mes Filipino” or Filipino Month in Lisbon which featured, among others, the Sabores das Filipinas Food Festival, that gave the Embassy another venue to promote Philippine gastronomy, and the use and integration of Filipino ingredients products into Portuguese cuisine.

The Food Festival was also part of the Philippine culinary tour of Filipina chef Myrna Segismundo, who collaborated with Portuguese chef Joao Correira of Altis Avenida Hotel in coming up with a fusion of Filipino and Portuguese culinary food.

Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria said during her remarks that “the Food Festival not only aims to promote Filipino cuisine and flavors, it also showcases what is possible when Filipinos and Portuguese work together toward a common goal.”

The cocktail reception was attended with an estimated 150 guests from the diplomatic corps, the government, and the private sector. END
