VIENTIANE 11 July 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Laos, in cooperation with the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), hosted a seminar on entrepreneurship on 27 June 2018 at the Embassy premises.

The seminar coincided with the observance of the International Day for Micro-, Small-, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), which was celebrated on the same day.

Attended by 37 members of the Filipino Community in Lao PDR. Ambassador Belinda M. Ante delivered her opening remarks, while CARD MRI Iranio Rivera Jr. facilitated the seminar proper.

During the seminar, Mr. Rivera discussed aspects of businesses and entrepreneurship with the attendees. He also distributed resource materials, including information on objectives in establishing businesses and marketing strategies, as well as CARD MRI’s company profile during the event.

The seminar was well-received by the attendees, some of whom have small catering businesses aside from their regular employment in Laos.

During the event, the Embassy showed a video presentation from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas entitled “Paghahanda sa Kinabukasan,” a practical savings and investment guide for Overseas Filipino Workers.

The seminar complemented the earlier seminar on financial literacy, also conducted by CARD MRI on 22 October 2017 as one of Embassy’s Gender and Development activities. END
