Philippine Navy, Marines Join World’s Biggest Naval Exercise in Hawaii

HONOLULU 12 July 2018 — Consul General in Honolulu Joselito A. Jimeno welcomed the Philippine Navy and Marines officers who are leading the Philippine contingent to the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2018 on 06 July 2018.
The Philippine Navy contingent, led by Captain Ernesto Baldovino and Deputy Captain Joe Anthony Orbe, is composed of two ships: the BRP Andres Bonifacio, led by Commander Jerry Garrido; and the BRP Davao del Sur, led by Commander Richard David.
This is Captain Baldovino’s second time in Hawaii. In November of 2013, he was the Captain of the BRP Ramon Alcaraz, another missile frigate of the Philippine Navy.
The other officers of the Philippine contingent are: Cdr. Phaveena Aguinaldo PN, Cdr. Dominic B. Benauro PN, Lt. Cdr. Alfredo Dimapilis Jr. PN, Lt. Col. Danilo Facundo PN (Marines), Lt. Col. Angelica Andrada PN (Marines), and Lt. James B. Reyes PN.
RIMPAC is the world’s largest international naval exercise. This year’s military exercise The biennial involves 26 nations, 47 surface ships, five submarines, 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel. RIMPAC 2018 runs from 27 June 27 to 02 August.
Although a long time participant of RIMPAC, this is the first time that the Philippines is participating with two ships and one helicopter. The total personnel contingent of the Philippines for RIMPAC 2018 is 570, which includes officers and crew from the Philippine Navy and Marines. END
