PH Consulate General in Xiamen Showcases PH’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites Through Photos

XIAMEN 17 July 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully launched the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Philippines photo exhibit, in commemoration of the 120th proclamation of Philippine independence and in line with the celebration of the National Heritage Month, held at Great China Ballroom, Kempinski Hotel in Xiamen City on 12 June 2018.
The exhibit mounted photos in tarp materials/posters with narratives showcasing the six sites as proclaimed by UNESCO in cultural and natural categories, including the Baroque Churches of the Philippines (San Agustin Church in Manila, Paoay Church in Ilocos Norte, Santa Maria Church in Ilocos Sur, Miag-ao Church in Iloilo), Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, the Historic City of Vigan, and Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary.
In his remarks, Consul General in Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores expressed appreciation to UNESCO Philippines for its valuable support, and to Dr. Roy G. Ponce for his works on the Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary photos.
The exhibit is a mainstreaming activity under the Consulate General’s cultural diplomacy program for 2018 that aims to promote the Philippines in Fujian, as well as further enhance friendship, understanding and cooperation between the Philippines and Fujian on one hand, and between the Philippines and China on the other.
