PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to Colombian President
BOGOTA 18 July 2018 — Non-resident Philippine Ambassador to Colombia Marichu B. Mauro presented her Letter of Credence to Colombian President and 2016 Nobel Peace Prize winner Juan Manuel Santos at Palacio de Nariño on 10 July 2018.
Ambassador Mauro extended President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s well-wishes to President Santos and the Colombian people. She reiterated how much the Philippines and Colombia have in common, and how these cultural similarities should be used to further deepen relations of the two countries.
For his part, President Santos reaffirmed his country’s support to the Philippines, and looks forward to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He conveyed to Ambassador Mauro his good wishes for President Duterte and the Filipino people.
President Santos visited the Philippines in November 2015 for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Week.
Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Colombia was established in 1946, and have remained friendly and cordial through the years. END
