CHICAGO 20 July 2018 – Filipino-American food concessionaires Grill City by Seafood City Supermarket and So Forking Great joined more than 70 eateries, pop-up restaurants, and food trucks at this year’s Taste of Chicago Food Festival.
Grill City brings to the Festival its now-famous chicken and pork barbecue in sticks (Pinoy taste and style). The barbecues’ preparation and taste have gained traction not only among Filipino-American foodies’ palate but also with Chicago’s highly diverse diners, who enjoy the aroma and flavor of food steeped in “Asian spices”.
Crowds gather in So Forking Great’s corner to order Agg Roll—an egg roll named after So Forking Great’s untiringly enthusiastic proprietor Agnes Policarpio. The Agg Rolls come in different fillings and dipping sauces. But the usual favorite is the original “Agg Roll”, which contains ground pork and water chestnuts.
According to Policarpio, whose family hails from Pampanga, each Agg Roll has a personal story. Hers is about “growing up Filipino”, which means “growing up in the kitchen and learning about my Filipino heritage as I watched my mother roll dozens of egg rolls and make dipping sauces from scratch.”
Earlier, on 04 July 2018, Fox 32 Chicago aired some of So Forking Great’s culinary offers for the Festival in its morning news (link: https://www.fox32chicago.com/mornings/344556680-video).
