DUBAI 20 July 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai conducted a training module on insurance and investments on 22 June 2018.
The module, which is the second in the series of financial literacy workshops that the Consulate General will conduct for 2018, was participated by almost 50 overseas Filipinos from Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
The training module on insurance and investments aims to educate participants on basic concepts and various types of investment, including guidelines on creating investment strategies, increase participants’ understanding on insurance, its purpose and types, enable participants to develop sound financial planning habits and plan their retirement, and educate participants on how to recognize and manage risks associated with investments.
The Financial Literacy Task Force of the Consulate General, headed by Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes, was created in the second half of 2016 to promote financial literacy among Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
As part of efforts to come up with a program that is appropriate to the needs and requirements of Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, the Consulate General tapped experts from the banking and insurance sectors, investment management companies, real estate firms, and professional organizations to develop training modules aimed at building the capacity of participants on various financial issues, to allow them to make informed, sound, and effective financial decisions.
For 2018, the Consulate and the Task Force will conduct the training modules biannually, due to the increasing interest and the growing appreciation of Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates for such endeavors.
The first module on savings, budgeting and debt management was held at the Rizal Hall of the Consulate on 11 May 2018. The next module that will cover topics on entrepreneurship and re-integration will be conducted on 20 July 2018. END
