PH Consulate General in San Francisco Celebrates Nat’l Disability Week
SAN FRANCISCO 20 July 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the celebration of the 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week by making the “Loyalty Pledge of an Advocate of the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),” during its weekly flag-raising ceremony at the lobby of the Philippine Center on 16 July 2018.
The Consulate General projected the text of the loyalty pledge onto its video wall and, together with the consular applicants and members of the Filipino-American Community, recited the pledge with the personnel, vowing to support persons with disabilities and raise awareness of the need to empower and integrate them into mainstream society.
In support of persons with disabilities, the Consulate General continues to maintain its Courtesy Lounge, where dedicated consular staff are assigned to assist the elderly, pregnant women and PWDs, prioritizing them in the provision of service and providing them with a comfortable waiting area.
The Consulate also maintains facilities that cater to the needs of the differently-abled, such as PWD-friendly comfort rooms and elevators. END
