VIENNA 20 July 2018 – Shortly after her presentation of credentials before Slovene President Borut Pahor, non-resident Ambassador to Slovenia Maria Cleofe R. Natividad held an intimate reception for Slovene heads of agencies, businessmen, and members of the Filipino Community in Ljubljana on 12 July 2018.

Ambassador Natividad made sure to set aside time for a dialogue with the group. She underscored the importance of open lines of communication between the Philippine Embassy in Austria (which holds jurisdiction over Slovenia) and the Community. The dialogue touched on the challenges that the group faces, and the realistic scope of assistance that the Embassy can extend.

Conversely, Ambassador Natividad apprised them of the Embassy’s mission and vision–to become the science diplomacy hub of the Philippine Foreign Service—and assured them that programs that will promote the talent and skills of the Filipinos are in the offing.  She iterated the importance of partnership and support and requested theirs in the Embassy’s initiatives.

The organization Filipinos in Slovenia (Fil-Slo) was founded on 2004 and currently has 127 members from all over the country.  The Community, while small in number, is stable and enduring, and is active in promoting the best of what the Philippines has to offer.  The Embassy and Fil-Slo look forward to a more robust cooperation.
