CANBERRA 20 June 2018 – Ambassador to Australia Minda Calaguian-Cruz shared the importance of soft power and the Philippine experience during the 2018 Asialink Leaders Program in Canberra on 19 June 2018.
This Asialink program brings together professionals from corporate, government and community sectors in Australia to enable them, to engage more effectively with the Asia region.
“The Philippines is a small country – an archipelago composed of at least 7,107 islands with a total land mass estimated to be around 1/26th the size of Australia. However, with more than ten million Filipinos who work and live all around the world, comprising about a tenth of the country’s population, it is a small country with a global reach,” Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz said.
The Ambassador highlighted the role of cultural diplomacy, and the enabling role of Filipinos in Australia in generating goodwill and greater appreciation of Philippine culture and heritage all over the world. END
