PH Consulate General in San Francisco Welcomes Filipino WCOPA Champions
SAN FRANCISCO 23 July 2018 – Maxwell Soller and Miguel Ibaseta, collectively known as M2 and grand champions for the senior category at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), paid a courtesy call at the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco on 19 July 2018.
The guitar duo bagged silver medals for their classical, jazz, contemporary, open, and original composition performances before being hailed as grand champions senior category in WCOPA 2018, besting representatives of 62 other countries at an event held in Long Beach, California from 06 to 15 July 2018.
Maxwell—a professor at San Jose-Recoletos University—and Miguel—a 12th grader—only began rehearsing as a duo eight months prior to the competition. Through the hard work of both their parents, the duo was able to compete in Long Beach, along with an 82-member Philippine delegation.
Both Maxwell and Miguel were very proud to represent the Philippines at the “Talent Olympics,” and for bringing recognition and acclaim to our country at such a prestigious event. END
