Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria, Serbia Discuss Latest Developments in PH

BUDAPEST 23 July 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Budapest, and the Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria and Serbia held a full-day meeting at the Embassy on 07 July 2018 to plan for future activities and programs for the years 2018 and 2019.
Present at the important meeting were Philippine Honorary Consul in Bulgaria Ognian Trajanov, and Honorary Consul in Serbia Dragijana Radonjic-Petrovic.
Trajanov has served as honorary consul for almost ten years, while Petrovic was recently commissioned as honorary consul by Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano. The consulate office in Serbia was recently opened in June 2018.
Led by Ambassador to Hungary Maria Fe T. Pangilinan, Consul General Paul Vincent L. Uy and Consul Jose L. Garcia III briefed the honorary consuls on the latest politicalm economic and security developments in the Philippines, as well as the developments in the bilateral relations with Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia—seven countries in which the Embassy has jurisdiction.
The honorary consuls were also briefed on the latest consular regulations and rules including passport regulations, as well as the cases of assistance to nationals being handled by the Embassy and other consulates.
In turn, the Honorary Consuls presented their proposed economic and cultural diplomacy plans, as well as their suggestions for closer cooperation not only with the Embassy but also among themselves.
The meeting also served as a planning session for the year 2019, identifying the most feasibleS and achievable activities in the cultural and consular fields.
The Embassy committed its physical presence in these activities, as well as full coordination with relevant agencies in Manila and the consulates.
This meeting is the second general briefing undertaken by the Embassy for the honorary consuls since the arrival of Ambassador Pangilinan in Budapest.
In January 2018, a successful familiarization tour and economic briefing was held in Manila, the first of its kind for the Philippine honorary consuls in Europe. END
