PARIS 25 July 2018 – As part of its continuing cultural diplomacy efforts, the Philippine Embassy in Paris featured two theatrical performances at its conference hall last 21 July 2018, with members of the Filipino Community in attendance.

National Artist for Theater Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero’s “Wanted: A Chaperon,” a one-act comedy on Filipino family life, was performed by students of the Ateneo de Manila University who underwent a theater exchange program with the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, and a member of the Paris Catholic Mission (PCM) Family and Youth Choir.

Members of the PCM Family and Youth Choir, composed mostly of second-generation Filipinos in France, performed an original play titled “OFW in Paris,” penned by Mark Allen Vergara.

The performances ended with the rendition of the duet “For Good” from the renowned Broadway musical “Wicked.”

Ateneo theater professor Melissa Vera Maramara explained that the rendition represented the enriching experiences and friendships shared among the students and the migrant youth.

Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro thanked the two youth groups for their authentic portrayal of the Filipino experience, and expressed appreciation to the members of the Filipino Community who attended the event. She expressed hope that similar events may be held in the future. END
