PH Consulate General in Shanghai Joins Familiarization Trip to Yancheng

SHANGHAI 25 July 2018 — The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai participated in “Discover Jiangsu: Trip to Yancheng,” a familiarization tour of Yancheng Municipality organized by the Jiangsu Foreign Affairs Office on 17-19 July 2018.
Consul General Wilfredo R. Cuyugan was accompanied by Consul Marlowe S. Miranda, Vice Consul (Commerical) Mario C. Tani, and Protocol Officer Sanny Darren Bejarin during the trip.
As the most senior consular official from Shanghai, Consul General Cuyugan led the consular corps during the official ceremonies with local provincial and municipal officials. The Consul General of Chile and the economic and consular officers of Belarus, Great Britain, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Uzbekistan also participated in the tour.
A yearly project of the Jiangsu Foreign Affairs Office since 2011, the tour give consulates in Shanghai an opportunity to visit one of the areas in Jiangsu, as an effort to help foreign friends understand Jiangsu’s economic and social progress, and further promote its practical cooperation with foreign countries in various fields. This year, Yancheng was chosen as the site of the familiarization tour.
The project was also an opportunity for the Consulate General to meet with the municipal and provincial leaders of Jiangsu and Yancheng, and expand its network for the promotion of cooperation with enterprises under its jurisdiction in the areas of new energy development, infrastructure and ecotourism.
