KUALA LUMPUR 27 July 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur treated the Filipino Community to a morning of songs as the Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC) Himig Chorale performed the Lupang Hinirang at the Embassy’s flag raising-ceremony, followed by a mini concert, on 23 July 2018 at the Embassy grounds.

The Himig Chorale, or simply “Himig”, is the official choir of the RMMC in General Santos City. Their visit to Kuala Lumpur is part of their first goodwill trip, which culminates in their participation in the Seventh Bali International Choral Festival and Competition on 24-28 July 2018 in Indonesia.

During their concert at the Embassy, Himig performed popular crowd-pleasers such as “Esto Les Digo,” “Kruhay,” “Ikaw Lamang,” and “Maghihintay sa Iyo.” The audience was also treated to the chorale’s competition pieces in the Gospel category, which include the songs “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord,” “Battle of Jericho,” and “Deep River,” as well songs in the Mix category such as “Cantate Domino,” “Conversion of Saul,” and “Stars.”

Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose presented a plaque of appreciation to the chorale in recognition of their outstanding musical performance. In his remarks, the Ambassador thanked the Himig Chorale for sharing their talent with the Filipinos in Kuala Lumpur, and expressed confidence in the chorale as they head into competition to represent the Philippines.
