PH Consulate General in Guam Joins Observance of 40th National Disability Week

Agana NDRW

GUAM 27 July 2018 – In celebration of the 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, the Philippine Consulate General in Agana made the Loyalty Pledge of an Advocate of the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities during its flag-raising ceremony on 16 July 2018.

“As we continue to strive for a society where the economic needs and social welfare of persons with disabilities are continuously addressed and improved, let us remember to do our share in raising awareness on the difficulties facing PWDs. The awareness we create can result in a society where PWD’s are given equal opportunity and contribute to the betterment of our country,” Acting Head of Post Mark Francis C. Hamoy said.

With this year’s theme, “Kakayahan at Kasanayan Para sa Kabuhayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran,” the Consulate General’s personnel recited the pledge in front of the bust of Gat Apolinario Mabini, who, despite his physical disabilities, became one of the country’s most profound thinkers and subsequently recognized as the “Brains of the Philippine Revolution.” He spent the last two years of his life as an exile in Guam.
