“Dubai Dubai Musikahan 2” Winning Composition Released by Star Music

DUBAI 01 August 2018 — Kayumanggi, the grand prize-winning composition of last year’s Dubai Dubai Musikahan (DDM) 2, was finally released by Star Music Records through Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon Music.

Star Music artist Bugoy Drilon gave the Ralph Maligro composition a new pop-reggae beat. Mr. Maligro is an Overseas Filipino based in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.

“The story of our diaspora has now expanded to include the overseas community as an active contributor to our heritage despite geographic distance and constraints in the cultural and legal environment of the host country,” Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes said.

“With the recording, DDM has become an avenue for OFWs to continue being a part of the artistic and creative spectrum of the Filipino people,” Consul General Cortes added.

The DDM was conceptualized and initiated in 2016 by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Filipino Ladies of Dubai, as one of its flagship programs in its cultural diplomacy strategy.

The song-writing competition hopes to arouse the creative spirit of the OFWs in the field of music-writing and production, proving that the Consulate is not just a refuge for Filipino nationals in distress but also the repository for the collective talent of the Filipino Community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates–highlighting the best and most positive attributes of the Philippines and the Filipino people.
