ABU DHABI 03 August 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, headed by Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Rowena R. Pangilinan-Daquipil, held a meeting with the Filipino Community leaders at the Embassy function hall on 29 July 2018 on the amnesty program to be implemented by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In attendance were Embassy Philippine Overseas Labor Office and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration officials, and leaders of various Filipino organizations under the Bayanihan Council, chaired by Engineer Elmer Casao.

They discussed about the amnesty program, an initiative of the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship titled “Protect yourself by modifying your status,” which will be implemented from 01 August to 31 October 2018.

The Embassy also requested the support and assistance of Filipino Community leaders in disseminating the information and guidelines to fellow nationals, who wish to avail themselves of the amnesty in Abu Dhabi.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano previously urged Filipinos in UAE who have overstayed or have absconded from their employers to take advantage of the amnesty program, adding that the DFA, along with the Department of Labor and Employment and other concerned government agencies, are ready to assist those who want to apply for amnesty.
