LOS ANGELES 09 August 2018 – As part of its advocacy to promote Filipino artistry and reach out to the Filipino-American Community, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles hosted the Filipino-American Arts Salon, an event of conversations and talks by artists in Southern California, at the Philippine Consulate General’s community hall on 03 August 2018.

The event was moderated by curator and gallerist Edwin Ramoran. Panelists, who included artists George Domantay, Cirilo Domine, Maryrose Cobarrubias Mendoza, Joseph Santarromana and Eliseo Art Silva, presented pieces of their work on Filipino-American culture and art.

During the open forum, the panelists discussed contemporary art as a vehicle for identity, the international identity of Filipino artists, and American and Filipino drivers for growth, community-and-nation-building and production of art among contemporary artists of Philippine heritage.

The event was organized in cooperation with artist Eliseo Art Silva, who spearheaded the Artists Talk, and was attended by 40 Filipino-Americans based in Southern California. END
