PH Embassy in Italy Provides Consular Services to Filipinos in Lecce

ROME 09 August 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome held its very first consular outreach to Filipinos in the province of Lecce in southern Italy on 04-05 August 2018.

“I have spent almost 30 years working in Lecce, and this is the first time that we have been officially visited by a team from the Embassy,” a grateful Rolan Atienza said, as he led a group of Filipino well-wishers in welcoming the arrival of a consular team.

Lecce, capital city of its province and namesake Lecce, is home to almost a thousand Filipinos, many of whom are migrant workers from Batangas and Laguna. It takes seven hours to travel by land from Rome to Lecce. 

The Embassy’s consular team completed a total of 698 service transactions, of which 334 were related to passports, notarial services, and civil registrations, 137 were related to voter registration, and 134 were membership applications in the Overseas Workers Welfare fund.

There were also 78 applications for the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG). END
