ASEAN Launches Website, Publication of ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation

JAKARTA 13 August 2018 – Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi and Indonesian Foreign Retno Marsudi led the celebration of the 51st anniversary of ASEAN in a ceremony held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta on 08 August 2018.

The ceremony also launched the website of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR), and a publication entitled “Strengthening Convergences for International Humanitarian Action.”

The publication chronicles the results and recommendations of the Philippine-led ASEAN-IPR Symposium of the same name held in October 2017 in Manila. 

Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN and Symposium co-organizer Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso presented the ASEAN Secretary-General with a copy of the publication.

The Symposium was organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process and the International Committee of the Red Cross.  It was supported by the governments of Norway and Switzerland.

The Jakarta-based ASEAN-IPR is the ASEAN institution for research activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution. Its website can be accessed through asean-aipr.org.

ASEAN-IPR publications, including “Strengthening Covergences” and other resources on peace and reconciliation, are also available on the site. END
