Filipino Talents Join Photo Exhibit in Fujian, China

XIAMEN 23 August 2018 — A photo exhibit highlighting the creative and visual talents of Philippines and China photo hobbyists in Fujian themed “Art that Empowers, China-Philippines Photography Exchange Exhibition (Cultural Exchange Through Photography)” was launched recently at the Tea Museum, Minnan Ancient Town, Huli District in Xiamen City.

Among the participating Filipino photographers were Bong Antivola, Dixx Gatpo, Cocoy Declaro, Lister Maraon, and Kervin Mon Perez of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.

The photo collection is an interesting mix of images of people and places taken from different locations in Fujian province and in the Philippines.

Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores graced the event as guest of honor. He expressed appreciation to the organizers and to the participating artists for the valuable initiative to enhance Philippines- China relations as well for their charity work.

Consul General Flores also expressed the Consulate General’s support for similar events in the future in collaboration with Minnan Ancient Town.

The exhibit was organized by the Fujian City Photographers Association and Minnan Ancient Town as a fund-raising campaign that will benefit the children with autism in Zapatera Elementary School in Cebu, and the children with hearing disabilities in Zhangzhou, Fujian.

The event was held at the Ancient Town complex of department stores or malls utilizing, Fujian (Minnan) architectural designs including a Hakka Tulou (earthen fortification), Matsu Temple and Minnan folk houses.

Otherwise known as Cross-Strait Exchange Centre, it is located adjacent to Xianglu Grand Hotel in Huli District, covering an area of 165,000 square meters. It is considered as the first cross-Strait tourist and business town in China with the authentic “Minnan style.” END
