PH Consulate General in Jeddah Conducts Financial Literacy Seminar for OFWs

JEDDAH 24 August 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah conducted a free financial literacy seminar for overseas Filipinos in the western region of Saudi Arabia as a continuation of its Post Arrival Orientation Seminar series.
“Through this seminar, the Consulate hopes to give you additional knowledge and information to better manage your financial resources for a secure future and a happy retirement,” Consul General Edgar B. Badajos said in his welcome remarks to the participants.
The participants included many Filipino nurses from various hospitals in Jeddah.
The seminar discussed concepts on saving, investing, and borrowing, and shared valuable tips on achieving financial freedom such as the importance of saving before spending, decreasing expenses, involving the family in goal setting and financial planning, and proper budgeting.
Representatives of the Social Security Services, Pag-IBIG Fund and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center also discussed investment programs and options available to overseas Filipinos to assist them in achieving their financial goals.
The Consulate General conducted the seminar in partnership with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office - Jeddah, with Welfare Officer James Mendiola of the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration as the main resource speaker. END
