PH, Brunei Officials Meet to Undertake MOU on Halal Export Development and Promotion

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 28 August 2018 – The Philippines and Brunei Darussalam successfully convened the First Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the International Convention Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan on 09 August 2018.

Philippine Trade and Industry Undersecretary Abdulgani M. Macatoman, Head of the Philippine delegation, and Brunei Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry Deputy Permanent Secretary Tutiaty Abdul Wahab co-chaired the meeting.

The highlights of the first JCM included the discussion of the proposed structure and terms of reference of the JCM, discussion of the proposed activities and programs to be pursued under the MOU, discussion of the date and venue of the second JCM, and signing of the joint communiqué.   

Members of the Philippine delegation included Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin, Department of Foreign Affairs Director Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian, Philippine Trade and Investment Center-Singapore Commercial Counsellor Maria Cynthia B. Ricafort, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 11 Director Dr. Anthony C. Sales, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Philippine Accreditation Bureau Assistant Director and Officer-in-Charge Ernani M. Dionisio, DTI Halal Section-Export Marketing Bureau Head Albino M. Ganchero, DTI Halal Section-Export Marketing Bureau Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Raison D. Arobinto, DTI Technical Assistant Hafidah B. Macadaya, Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (ZamboEcozone) Director Jose J. Suan, and ZamboEcozone Corporate Sales and Locators Management Division Officer Ma. Divina A. Mato.

The second JCM will be hosted by the Philippines in 2019. END
