PH Delegation Explores Business Opportunities with Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 29 August 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Pete Raymond V. Delfin, joined Philippine government officials in a meeting with Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) Permanent Chairperson Haji Mahmud bin Haji Mohd Daud, and Deputy President Haji Muslim bin Haji Tengah at the BMCCI Office in Beribi Industrial Complex 1, Jalan Gadong on 10 August 2018.
The main items discussed during the Philippine delegation’s meeting with BMCCI included, among others, Brunei’s Halal certification process, Brunei’s plans to be a Halal logistics hub in Southeast Asia that will open access to the Halal markets in China, Middle East and Europe initiatives in support of Halal export promotion and joint-venture investment projects in the Philippines and Brunei BIMP-EAGA, and facilitation of the flow of goods and services in the BIMP-EAGA region.
The Philippine officials are in Brunei Darussalam as part of the country’s delegation to the First Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) for the Philippines-Brunei Memorandum of Understanding on Halal Industry and Halal Export Development and Promotion, and the 2018 Brunei Halal Showcase (BruHAS).
The members of the Philippine delegation from the government sector include Department of Foreign Affairs Director Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian, Embassy Labor Attaché Melissa C. Mendizabal, Philippine Trade & Investment Centre-Singapore Commercial Counsellor Maria Cynthia B. Ricafort, Department of Agriculture National Coordinator Dr. Norodin A. Kuit, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Halal Section-Export Marketing Bureau Head Albino M. Ganchero, DTI Halal Section-Export Marketing Bureau Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Raison D. Arobinto, DTI Macatoman Technical Assistant Hafidah B. Macadaya, Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (ZamboEcozone) Director Jose J. Suan, and ZamboEcozone Corporate Sales and Locators Management Division Officer Ma. Divina A. Mato.
On the other hand, private sector members represented in the BMCCI meeting include Maureen M. Pasciolco, General Manager, Pasciolco International; Dina Stalder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Stalder Laboratories; Elizabeth C. Mondejar, Marketing and Sales Manager, Altertrade Philippines; Joanne C. Tan, Sales and Operations Manager, Year Luck Food and Industrial Corp.; Marichu A. Edralin, CEO, Doxo Trading; Virginia P. Dimayuga, Owner, Edna and Rebecca's Banana Chips and Coated Peanut; and Mildred R. Baylon, Marketing Manager, Castillejos Agri-Farms.
The Philippine delegation’s meeting with BMCCI was a cordial and productive networking activity which resulted to the establishment of business partnerships between some Philippine and Bruneian companies. END
