Filipino Youth Delegates Participate in 5th ASEAN Children’s Forum

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 04 September 2018 – The Philippine delegation, led by former Secretary of Social Welfare and Development Lina B. Laigo, participated in the Fifth ASEAN Children’s Forum in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam on 06-08 August 2018.
With the theme “Our Children, Our Future, Our ASEAN”, the forum aims to contribute toward building a friendly ASEAN community that enhances the participation of children and promotes children’s rights.
During the forum, 70 delegates from participating ASEAN member–states discussed issues affecting them in their respective countries, the results of which were presented to local government officials and representatives from foreign missions on 08 August 2018.
A gala dinner was held in the evening of 08 August 2019, with His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah as the guests of honor.
Participating ASEAN member–-states also presented cultural performances, and performed a “pesembah” or tribute to Their Royal Highnesses to conclude the event.
Prior to their departure for the Philippines, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam’s Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ms. Jaybee B. Arguillas and other Embassy officials. END
