PH Consul General Attends Annual Convention, Anniversary of Congress of Visayan Organizations
HONOLULU 04 September 2018 — Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Joselito A. Jimeno was the guest of honor during the 32nd Annual Convention and Anniversary Gala of the Congress of Visayan Organizations (COVO) at the Hibiscus Ballroom, Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii on 04 August 2018, hosted by the Dabawenyos of Hawaii.
The COVO serves as the umbrella organization of all Visayan organizations in the State of Hawaii which aims to showcase the Visayan region’s cultural traditions and customs, and to assist in the development of all Visayans on the social, educational, political and livelihood aspects of their lives in the State.
In his remarks, Consul General Jimeno reiterated the importance of unity among the Filipino American organizations in Hawaii.
The Consul General shared some of the Philippines’ major strategies and experiences under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte. He assured the guests that the Philippine Government under the Duterte administration is transparent and open in all means and all the time.
Other guests during the event were Hawaii State Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) Director Luis Salaveria, who presented a State Proclamation to COVO on behalf of State of Hawaii Governor David Ige. END
