PH Embassy in Vienna Meets with the Bikol Society Austria, European Network of Filipinos Diaspora

VIENNA 04 September 2018 — The Bikol Society Austria (BSA) called on Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad on 31 July 2018 to apprise her of the projects they have lined up for the year, particular the Our Lady of Peñafrancia fluvial procession.
BSA is celebrating its 25th year as a Filipino organization in Austria, and their 15th year of holding the fluvial procession, which attracts between 700 to 750 participant devotees every year.
Ambassador Natividad reiterated the Embassy’s support to BSA and its activities which promote the culture of the Bicol region and the Philippines.
Conversely, the Ambassador requested that the organization continue to support the Embassy and its projects, especially as it aims to become the Philippine Foreign Service’s science diplomacy center.
This year’s Peñafrancia Fluvial Procession will be on 15 September 2018 in Tulln an der Donau.

Meanwhile, the European Network of Filipinos Diaspora (ENFiD), established in Rome, Italy in 2012, has found its way to Austria in 2017.
The officers of the organization called on Ambassador Natividad on 02 July 2018 to apprise her of their thrusts and the importance of having the network organization be present in Austria. The organization, aside from promoting connection with other Filipinos across Europe, aims to empower the Filipinos in their foster countries.
Ambassador Natividad gladly welcomed the new organization with its objective to be the support system of Filipinos in Europe be successful. She looks forward to a cooperation with ENFiD on both theirs and the Embassy’s initiatives.
The Embassy is already in talks with the organization to launch an activity under its Gender and Development desk and Paaralan sa Pasuguan program.
