San Francisco Chocolate 1

SAN FRANCISCO 04 September 2018 — Raquel T. Choa, founder of Ralfe Gourmet and known as Cebu’s “Chocolate Queen,” visited the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco and called on Consul General Henry S. Bensurto Jr. on 06 August 2018.

Accompanied by Ralfe Gourmet Managing Partner Eduardo Pantino, and her daughter Hannah Mae, Ms. Choa narrated her chocolate story on how she fell in love with chocolate through her grandmother’s stories about “Maria Cacao.”

Despite coming from humble beginnings from her hometown in the northwestern Cebu town of Balamban, she now runs a chocolate industry in the Philippines through her businesses.

The entrepreneur holds Chocolate Appreciation Tours at her residence in Cebu City for visitors to experience the magic of creating chocolate.

In cooperation with Philippine Foreign Service Posts, Ms. Choa had previously held events in Agana, Bangkok, and New York to promote Philippine chocolate overseas. She was also a TedX speaker in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where she discussed her “affair with chocolate.”

Ms. Choa presented a Cacao de Bola to Consul General Bensuto as a memento of her visit. END
