General Santos, Jersey City Pen Sister Cities Agreement

NEW YORK 06 September 2018 – The local governments of General Santos City in the Philippines and Jersey City in the United States formalized their sister cities agreement at a signing ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the Jersey City Hall in New Jersey last 14 August 2018.

Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas Nograles represented General Santos City Mayor Ronnel Rivera in the ceremony, saying that the sister cities agreement is a step toward achieving various projects of exchange and mutual benefits for growth and development.

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop notes this is the first sister cities agreement in his five years in office, acknowledging the significant contribution of the Filipino Community in his city.

Mayor Fulop looks forward to visiting General Santos, building a strong bond with the southern Mindanao city, and flourishing together as sister cities in the future.

Consul General in New York Claro S. Cristobal and Vice Consul Khrystina P. Corpuz Popov represented the Philippine Consulate General in New York at the event. END
