HELSINKI 10 September 2018 — Philippine Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia joined the Finnish-Philippine Association Ry in celebrating its 30th aniversary in Kauniainen, Finland on 26 August 2018.
Ambassador Batoon-Garcia enjoined the Association to continue their program of promoting Philippine culture among the Finn-Noy youth and to the Finnish Society. Finnish Consul General in Manila, Mr. Ramon Illusorio, also thanked the Association for their charitable donations and enjoined them to continue to assist the less fortunate in the Philippines.
The Finnish-Philippine Association was established in Helsinki, Finland on 11 September 1988, with the aim of encouraging social contact between the members, assisting Filipinos in their adjustment to the Finnish way of life, and promoting Philippine culture in Finland.
The Association has actively participated in multi-cultural, sports and social events in various areas in Finland. The members have extended financial assistance to the victims of calamities in the Philippines and contributed to the construction of the Finland-Philippine monument in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Highlights of the celebration included a Santacruzan by Filipino-Finnish youth, dances by members of the Finnish-Philippine Association and other Filipino community organizations, as well as song numbers by Voice of Finland contestants Francis Asis and Oliver Graham. END
