PH Embassy in Brunei Participates National Youth Day Cycling

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 11 September 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam—represented by Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (DAFA) Colonel Jose Ricky A. Laniog, and DAFA Administrative Assistant Master Seargent Romelito A. Galeos—participated in the National Youth Day Cycling Recreation 2018 graced by Brunei Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah in Bandar Seri Begawan on 02 September 2018.

The Sultan, along with members of the royal family, led the tour and were joined by over a thousand cyclists comprising government officials and members of the diplomatic corps. The route covered 11.49 kilometers along the main streets of Brunei Darussalam’s capital.  

The National Youth Day Cycling Recreation 2018 was organized by Brunei’s Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications, and the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation.

This year’s National Youth Day celebration aims to promote sporting activity and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.

The Embassy actively participates in physical and social activities organized by the Brunei government in support of the Embassy’s public diplomacy program. END
