Pacific Forum’s New President Calls On PH Consul General in Honolulu

HONOLULU 22 August 2018 — President of Pacific Forum and US Navy (Ret.) Rear Admiral Robert Girrier called on Philippine Consul General Joselito A. Jimeno at the latter’s office in Honolulu, Hawaii, this afternoon.
Girrier, who succeeds longtime Pacific Forum President Ralph Cossa, brings with him over 30 years of maritime experience and extensive operations throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific, Europe and Middle East, in leading the think tank which has established itself as a global reputation as the premier source of Indo-Asia-Pacific policy analysis.
During the courtesy call, Girrier and Consul General Jimeno discussed maritime security, which is of Girrier’s particular interest and specialization, the West Philippine Sea, regional security, free trade, and globalization.
Girrier also expressed his interest in growing the Pacific Forum’s relationship with the Consulate General, noting that the Philippines is a treaty ally and longstanding partner of the US.
