20 December 2013 - The Embassy of the Philippines in Lisbon organized a year-end gathering on December 15 with the members of the Filipino community. The event served as an opportunity for the Embassy to express appreciation to the volunteers who participated in a fundraising project for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). The fundraising project was initiated by the Filipino community with the support of the Embassy.

Approximately €3,700.00 was collected by the members of the Filipino community to help aid relief efforts for victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). One thousand nine hundred euros (€1900.00) of that amount was generated through the sale of Philippine dried fruit products which were donated by Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier. Other proceeds will be allocated to the families of 12 members of the Filipino Community back in the Philippines who were directly affected by the typhoon and the rest will be donated to the Philippine Red Cross.  END
