THE HAGUE 11 September 2018 — Organic food products sourced from Filipino farmers took center stage at the 2018 Embassy Festival organized by the Philippine Embassy in The Hague at the Pavilion on 05 September 2018.
Black and red rice from North Cotabato, muscovado sugar from Negros Occidental, dried mango and pineapple from Cebu, and coconut and derivatives, banana chips and herbal teas from Quezon and Laguna source from local farmers by Dutch NGO, LOOP, were featured at the Philippine booth.
The annual Festival is organized by The Hague Municipality with its aim to “lifting up global cultures,” in recognition of The Hague’s multicultural society and cultural diversity. As in last year’s Festival, The Hague PE under the ASEAN Committee in The Hague was clustered under the ASEAN Zone made up of pavilions from the resident embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The ASEAN Zone largely featured each country’s popular local dishes. Ambassador Jaime Victor and Mrs. Gina Ledda, along with Embassy officers and staff, also offered Philippine-fruit flavoured ice creams, juices and otap biscuits to its visitors.
Cultural performances were held at the Festival’s Creative Arena where the Embassy featured the Cordillera Group in The Netherlands that performed the traditional dances and chants of the Igorots. END
