JORDAN 06 September 2018 - President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was accompanied by King Abdullah II bin AI Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as they visited the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC) as part of his official visit to the country on 06 September 2018.

Opened in May 2009, KASOTC is an initiative of King Abdullah II that was established to meet the ever-evolving security and counter-terrorism challenges of the 21st Century.  It is a state-of-the-art   facility   that   provides   training   in counter-terrorism, special   operations, irregular warfare tactics, and law enforcement techniques, among others.

Following the conclusion of the Defense Cooperation agreement with Jordan, the President and the King were given a demonstration of a Tactical Security Exercise "Decisive Reaction" performed by Jordanian Special Forces, a testament to the facility's robust training programs.

In connection with the positive developments in Philippines-Jordan defense cooperation, the President inspected two Cobra helicopters at KASOTC and vehicles and equipment   developed by the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), another initiative of the King that aims to supply Jordan's armed forces with state-of-the-art military equipment and provide advanced technical and scientific services in the area of defense. The President commended Jordan's capabilities in this regard.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, and Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go, and Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Akmad Sakkam, among others accompanied the President to KASOTC.

The President concluded his Official Visit to Jordan, the first by a Philippine Head of State on 08 September 2018. END
