Filipinos in UAE Bestow Award to President Duterte

ABU DHABI 18 September 2018 – On behalf of President Rodrigo Duterte, Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Hjayceelyn M. Quintana received the Rizal Award conferred to him by The Filipino Times Awards at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai on 07 September 2018. 

The highest distinction conferred to an individual during the event, the Rizal Award is bestowed upon President Duterte for his notable contribution to the lives of overseas Filipino workers in UAE and across the globe, as well as in leading the Philippines to become the fastest growing economy in Southeast Asia.

Sponsored by the largest Filipino newspaper in the UAE since 2015, the Filipino Times Awards is the newspaper’s annual event that is organized by the New Perspective Media, to honor exemplary Filipinos, recognize excellence in their respective fields, and acknowledge top brands which Filipinos love.

The Filipino Times Awards has three awards categories, namely Individual Category, Brands Category, and Special Awards.

A special award—the Personality of the Year on Social Media Award—was given to Emirati “vlogger” Khalid Al Ameri for being an influential personality who has created online material that has uplifted the morale and identity of the Filipino Community, bridging cultural differences between the Arab and Filipino Communities.
