20 December 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, through Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, wife of Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., organized the “Showcase of International Cultural Glimpses” participated by the spouses of ambassadors and high commissioners resident in Pretoria for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) at the National Library of South Africa on November 29.
The event showcased the participating countries’ cultural features such as clothing, food and dances from 20 different countries namely: Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Georgia, Japan, Jordan, Nepal, Panama, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Slovakia, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago and Vietnam.
During her speech, Madame Vingno thanked all the spouses of the participating countries in allowing her to transform the event into a benefit show for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. A total amount of 5,909 rand (approximately US$ 570) were donated during the event. END
